Fish and Wildlife Service estimates the total of illegal substances seized at $43 million.
This week the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reported the total amount of illegal narcotics seized on national wildlife refuges in 2020 to be 13,615 pounds. The street value of $43 million was more than 17 times the amount seized in 2019. The Federal Wildlife Officers have partnered with other federal law enforcement agencies to protect public safety and support President Trump’s goal of ending the opioid crisis.
“Federal Wildlife Officers successfully stopped thousands of pounds of deadly narcotics from reaching our communities this year, and they continue to serve with distinction every day in protecting national wildlife refuges,” said Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks Rob Wallace. “The Trump Administration is working day in and day out to protect our citizens from illicit drugs and violence.”
Fish and Wildlife Service Director Aurelia Skipwith said, “Under the Trump Administration, our law enforcement has been effective in protecting wildlife and habitat and making refuges safe places for staff and visitors while preventing illegal narcotics from further afflicting communities across this nation.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That Assistant Secretary Wallace would have wisdom in leading his agency.
- For the success of federal law enforcement as they seek to protect public safety from illicit substances.
- For President Trump as he works to safeguard Americans from the opioid crisis.
